A classic medium bodied Shiraz. White pepper and charcuterie aromas carry into a complex palate of black olive, woodspice, davidson plum and persistent graphite tannin.

Tasting Notes

A classic medium-bodied cool-climate Shiraz – complex, savoury and unmistakably peppery in character.

Appearance: Deep ruby-garnet colour.
Aroma: White pepper and charcuterie with black olive and wood spice.
Palate: Concentrated black and red fruits, Davidson plum and baking spice leading to savoury, leathery notes with a creamy, elegant finish.
Texture: Fine ripe tannins held in place by fresh acidity with a persistent, graphite-driven close.

Winemaking & viticulture

Handpicked Shiraz was crushed and destemmed into an open fermenter for fermentation lasting 11 days. Pressed to tank for Malolactic Fermentation and then racked to a combination of new and used oak casks for maturation (7% new). Blended after 8 months to stainless steel and bottled in December 2023.

Food pairings

Chargrilled lamb backstrap | Beef with plum glaze | Aged Cheddar

Review

This shiraz wears its cool climate origins on its sleeve. It’s light-bodied with peppery spice characters littered throughout, the fruit flavours themselves in the red cherry and strawberry spectrum. It’s not deep but it’s complex. Roasted nut and herb characters are on open display too, enhancing the complex impression further. If you like cool, peppery shiraz you will enjoy this wine.
